We're building something for newspapers.
A new puzzle service from Ross Creative Media, coming in 2027.
Puzzles have been part of the newspaper experience for generations.
We think they still belong there.
Ross Creative Media is building a new puzzle service for newspapers and publishers that combines professionally produced print puzzles, flexible delivery, optional online play, and new opportunities to engage and monetize puzzle audiences.
It isn't ready quite yet.
We're building it now — and we're designing it around the realities of modern community publishing.
A puzzle service built for publishers
Our launch plans include two puzzle packages, multiple output formats, and optional digital play with analytics support.
Basic Package
A strong selection of familiar puzzle formats, giving readers plenty of variety without overwhelming the page.
Premium Package
Everything in Basic, plus additional puzzle formats for publications looking for greater variety and a more distinctive puzzle offering.
We're not interested in creating the longest possible list of puzzle types.
We're interested in creating puzzles worth solving.
Daily
Puzzle content for every day of the week, with Sunday puzzles offering an additional challenge for readers who want to test themselves.
Weekender
Puzzle content for Saturday and Sunday, with difficulty selected to suit your audience.
Different publications have different schedules. Your puzzle program should fit yours.
A glimpse at what's coming
The service is still under development, but the puzzles are already taking shape.
We're combining familiar favourites with original puzzle formats developed by Ross Creative Media.
Battleships · Word Search · Word Scramble · Sudoku · KenKen · Word Ladder
Some will feel immediately familiar.
Others will give readers something new to discover.
The mix will continue to evolve as we develop new puzzles and learn what readers enjoy most.
Production-ready. Ahead of schedule.
When the service launches, puzzles will arrive one month ahead, giving your production team plenty of time to incorporate them into upcoming issues.
Files will be available in:
PNG · SVG · PDF
Choose black and white or colour depending on your publication and printing needs.
Behind the scenes, we're planning much further ahead than that. The goal is a reliable, predictable supply of puzzle content without the last-minute scramble that can come with producing it yourself.
More than a printed puzzle
A puzzle in the newspaper can be the beginning of the experience, not the end.
Add online play to your puzzle package and give readers the option to scan a QR code and solve puzzles on their phones, tablets, or computers.
Our planned online experience includes:
- QR-code access from the printed puzzle
- Mobile-friendly puzzle play
- Digital access to your publication's puzzles
- Engagement reporting direct to your inbox
Your readers get another way to enjoy the puzzles.
Your publication gets another opportunity to engage them.
Turn engagement into advertising revenue
Online puzzle play creates something newspapers increasingly value:an engaged digital audience.
Publishers participating in the RCM advertising program can put that audience to work by selling advertising space on their online puzzle pages to local businesses and other advertisers.
RCM provides the inventory. You provide the advertisers.
Each participating publication receives 10 advertising slots per week for a flat rate, with additional slots available as needed. You sell the space to your own advertising customers at whatever rate you choose, then send us their creative. We'll review the ads, publish them, and take care of the rest.
Automated performance reports are delivered by email on a regular schedule, giving you and your advertisers clear visibility into impressions, clicks, and other standard engagement metrics.
If a publication does not participate in the advertising program, RCM reserves the right to use available advertising inventory for its own campaigns.
Online play is optional. Advertising is optional. The choice is yours.
Built to grow with publishers
Every publication has its own audience, schedule, geography, and production workflow.
We're designing the service to accommodate that.
Puzzles will be produced well in advance, allowing RCM to provide reliable delivery while maintaining flexibility as the publisher network grows.
We won't ask every publication to work exactly the same way.
We want to make the service work for you.
Built by Ross Creative Media
This isn't a marketplace for somebody else's puzzles.
The service will be owned, operated, and supported by Ross Creative Media.
We're creating the puzzles. We're building the technology. We're developing the online experience. We're designing the delivery system. And we're creating the infrastructure to support publishers as the service grows.
The service will launch under its own dedicated brand, backed by Ross Creative Media.
We're not ready to reveal everything just yet.
But we're getting close.
Why we're doing this
We didn't start making puzzles because we thought newspapers needed another content supplier.
We started because people we cared about couldn't find the puzzles they enjoyed anymore.
That small problem led us to study puzzles, experiment with formats, build our own tools, publish puzzle books, and learn what makes a puzzle genuinely satisfying to solve.
Now we're taking that experience somewhere new.
Back to the newspaper.
Coming in 2027
We're currently building toward launch and talking with publishers who may want to be among the first to know when the service is ready.
If your publication is interested in reliable puzzle content, online play, new ways to engage readers, or simply bringing puzzles back to your pages, we'd like to hear from you.
Let's talk about what we're building.
